‘Soon Come’ is the first release from Shy’s eagerly anticipated forthcoming album, ‘Cornerstone’, and is a new musical direction for the talented DJ and producer - Shy FX is making reggae music and it never sounded sweeter. Already picking up specialist support from reggae legend David Rodigan on BBC Radio 1Xtra with further key spins from Annie Mac, B.Traits, Toddla T and MistaJam, ‘Soon Come’ has all the makings of becoming the anthem of carnival.
Shy has gone back to his roots, creating a reggae record that links his celebrated production skills to a retro sound. His grandfather, Count Shelly - the king reggae sound man, was the founder of one the most notorious sound systems in North London. Record producer and owner of his own record shop and label, he was responsible for importing the freshest Jamaican reggae sounds to the UK in the 60’s & 70’s. It is with this foundation, this cornerstone that Shy FX turns his skills to making reggae music.
It’s title, ‘Soon Come’, refers to the famous Jamaican expression meaning “I’ll get there whenever I’m ready/when I get there”. The lyrics reflect not only the relaxed pace of the track, but nods towards Shy’s timeless ability to create fresh, relevant music. Liam Bailey, provides an authentic vocal which sits perfectly with the vintage sound.
